A few months ago I decided to plunge into the world of Internet dating because seriously dating is a pain in the bum! You cant meet a nice guy in a pub or club these days it just doesn't happen (oh dear I sound old) I joined Plenty of Fish initially for a laugh but its turned into a full time job in itself!
I am not blowing my own trumpet because a lot of the emails I get are from weirdos or people that I am just not interested in dating but, in the last week I have counted that I have actually replied to more than 200 emails!
Can you really find a nice decent guy? So far only one that I would have dated unfortunately he turned out to be a player, yes there are lots of them too!
Is it worth the time and effort? In my case possibly because meeting guys here is hard, like I said you just don't meet a guy that's wanting to form a relationship in a club or a pub.
My family are actually very supportive my mum does say she cant see how I have had to resort to doing it but that's because Mum is bias and thinks her daughters are the most beautiful things to walk the planet! Mum wake up its not true!!
I kind of wanted to post about this because there does seem to still be a big issue with Internet dating, people still think its weird and unsafe. There are weirdos on there but on the whole I have encountered really nice guys but most of them live miles away.
At this current moment I think all that I could get out of it is a few more friends, but I still have hope I wont be single for much longer because its getting boring to be honest and I would like kids one day!
Anyway I hope you enjoyed my middle of the night/early morning lack of sleep random post! What do you think about Internet dating? Would you do it?
Aaah well. I totally know what you mean (says a girl living in a village of 10 people where 9 of them are over 70 or my parents!). I did that looooads when I was about 16-17? Because boys at school were ridicul and I just could not get to meet anyone else. I actually found my second bf ever online and he lives about 10 minutes from my house, altho I never met him before! We were together for 2 years! Well it did not end on the finest note, but worked for those 2 years haha Now my current bf and let's call him the love of my life, because we live together and we literally spend every single day together (for almost 2 years now as wel!!), first talked to me online as well. I live in Brum now and the guys in clubs are just.. I've been there, I tried that, I left it behind to put it nicely lol So we met online, never really chatted online too much, but we met and since that 11 hour first date we always been together:) So good luck to you and I really hope you find some nice bloke out there, just be careful with all the cyber creeps!:) xxxx
ReplyDeleteWell I dont have the little village issue but hey its all fun meeting new people! Its so great to hear it does actually work for more than just a few people.
DeleteI have faith if I didn't I would have given up ages ago. We shall see what happens.
I am pleased you found your prince :) xxx
I met MrLippie via internet dating, and we recently celebrated our 5th anniversary, and, as you know, we're getting married!
ReplyDeleteI went on a LOT of internet dates before I met him though, and some of them were complete howlers (buy me a glass of wine sometime, and I'll tell you some tales to make your hair curl) and, I'll be honest, I'd decided to give up the whole thing, at several points!
I always just saw it as a way to make friends though, and any romance was entirely secondary to that, but, right before I met M, I'd decided enough was enough, and he was one of the last people I'd arranged to met, so I went along anyway. We've been together ever since!
Keep at it, and don't take it too seriously, is my advice!
Well that gives me more faith! and I know what you mean as far as the howlers haha Most of them are hoe bags on there though after one thing and one thing alone haha
DeleteI have made a few good friends from it and i feel lucky because of that some guys that if we were a little closer would maybe date but that distance thing is a pain in the bum!
Watch this space I will find my prince at some point :)
